An Overview

Australian people are famous for their friendly and easygoing outlook on life. But anyone planning to come to Australia should understand that the Australian government is serious about protecting the security of their borders and are extremely strict about the visa application process. Australia’s target migration intake is set yearly with a balance of different areas in mind, namely: Of these areas, there is a strong policy emphasis on boosting skills and business skills intakes. It is crucial that you apply for the correct visa type as you will only be considered in this category, even it if it is not the right one for you. It can be a time consuming and expensive process, therefore you must research this area stringently ahead of your application. I should also point that not everyone is eligible for an Australian visa.

The Categories

There are three main categories of visas:

migration
temporary residence
visitors.

I am assuming that if you are reading this book you intend to live and work in Australia, therefore only temporary and permanent residence will be discussed.

In general, visa applications need to be made outside of Australia and secured before your entry to the country. When applying, you must be 100% sure about the visa class you wish to be considered under as immigration will only process your application under this class – even if they know that you are better suited to another visa type. So do your research carefully.
